St Olaf Hotel

St Olaf had a spare room and let me use it free that night, even though I'd booked a room to share with my parents. It's a cosy hotel with nice staff and a good breakfast.

The burgers were hefty, tasty, and came in great portions. We arrived with my pal before walking at Slains Castle, close to when the kitchen was shutting, which we hadn't realised, but the staff still fit us in. They even persuaded us to get dessert, and I was very full afterwards. The area was nice even in the fog, and I can imagine how lovely it'd be in sunshine or how cosy it would feel indoors in the rain. Kind staff. We'll absolutely go again. Thanks.

We stayed here to play Cruden Bay Golf Course, and it was a great experience. Dinner and breakfast were decent, though the B&B rooms are dated. In the pub, locals and tourists were chatting about everything from whisky and history to golf. A local character gave us a great tip to walk down to the harbor and original fishing village, and I hope he's a fixture there. I'm excited to see what the new husband-and-wife owners do with the place.
