The place looked nothing like the website photos, which seemed years out of date. Although it was advertised as superior four-star accommodation, everything felt dingy and dirty, the room was damp, and the garden and grounds were overgrown. I was the only guest besides the man running the place, and felt so unsafe that I pushed the single bed against the door before deciding to pack up and leave. It sits right beside a busy dual carriageway, and the entrance is hard to spot. If you miss it, getting back onto the correct carriageway takes a long detour. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially a woman travelling alone.

I booked two nights and lasted one. As a contractor who works across England, this was by far my worst stay, and I usually never leave hotel reviews. The bedding was damp, the room itself felt damp too, and the bathroom and shower were cramped. It was dated, with a room that looked like squatters had put it together. The smoke alarm's battery holder was open, covered in cobwebs, and clearly had been without a battery for a long time. They charge over £40. Honestly, even £15 would be pushing it. It claims to be four-star, but I can't see how. Half a star at best.
The shower was very good, and the host was welcoming, but I wouldn't choose to stay here again. The room wasn't ready when I arrived, and the carpet was still wet after being cleaned because a previous guest had spilled something. It felt cold and damp, and I spent a lot of time getting rid of the creepy-crawlies. There was a smart TV, fridge and microwave, but the room needs attention: gaffer tape under the shower cubicle and on the ceiling, and the sink was pulling away from the wall. Parking was tight, with abandoned cars scattered about. The bed was uncomfortable, so I hardly slept before an 8 am start at the Vox Conference Centre. Room 1 was described as a superior twin, but it certainly wasn't. The smoke alarm had no battery, and there was no WiFi, which isn't acceptable these days. It has potential if the issues I mentioned are dealt with.
There was nobody at reception when I arrived. I rang the bell for half an hour and called the number, but got no answer either way, so I had to find somewhere else to stay. I really hope they give me a full refund.
The room had a small fridge and tea making facilities, but that was about all I could say in its favour. I booked for two nights, arrived around 7 pm on the first evening and was gone by 11:30. It was damp and smelly, with damp bed linen, a filthy carpet and a dirty shower cubicle. The place looked nothing like the online photos. The smoke detectors had no batteries, and none of the outside lights were working.
