I found this place on hotels.com when I came down for a couple of days for my sister’s 80th birthday. The room was pleasant, cosy and comfortable, and it was great value. The welcome was so warm, and the hostess was charming. We had some interesting chats about all sorts of things. This will be my go-to place next time I’m down.

We were given pastries, fruit and bottled water to take with us when we had to leave before breakfast, such a kind gesture. Richmond Lane Guest House is in a quiet spot, but still close to the station and town centre. The hosts were incredibly friendly, showed us around and made us feel at home. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, biscuits, a mini fridge with water and a lovely shower bathroom. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely come back.

The price was really good, especially for a Friday, and there’s parking in a lovely, quiet setting. The host is lovely and enjoys a chat. Breakfast is self-serve, with fresh tea and coffee, orange juice, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast and pastries. The room was high quality, with lots of extras to make things more comfortable. A beautiful guest house where nothing is spared. Highly recommend.

We stayed here the night before our cruise, and Southampton port was only 20 minutes away. The host was very friendly, and our room was clean and beautiful, with thoughtful little touches. Breakfast was included: cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast and lovely coffee. I’d recommend staying here.

Such a warm welcome from an amazing host. The room was beautiful, and after staying in so many hotels and guest houses over the years, I can honestly say this was the nicest by far. I’ll definitely come back.
