The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was fine, though as usual it was a bit of a race to find a free table. It’s an excellent hotel with good-sized rooms, but the lighting is poor. The air conditioning instructions could be clearer for ordinary people. I understood the symbols, which might not be familiar to most, and at first I thought the air coming out was cold. Checking the symbols more carefully improved it.

We had a brilliant day at the Bobby Dazzler Christmas Market at the hotel yesterday, and can’t wait for the next one. The stalls were fantastic, beautifully set up and full of great products. We took plenty home! There were visitors around all day and the festive atmosphere was lovely. After the renovations, the hotel looks incredible, so clean and inviting. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, which made the day even better.

I stayed one night and won’t book here again. The only reason I chose it was because my work colleagues were staying. I should have followed my better judgement and gone to my usual Premier Inn. I could have complained or asked for a different room, but the damage was done and I’d made up my mind. The room was unacceptable from the start. If they missed the basics, what else wasn’t done to a normal acceptable standard? The room was a good size and had standard three-star comforts, but I spotted three black hairs in the bed. That made me inspect more closely than I normally would. There were two more hairs under the pillows, plus paper towels, socks and a lot of dust beneath the bed. I pulled the bed back and found a thick layer of dust and other everyday buildup, maybe months’ worth, if not more than a year’s. The carpet was covered in crumbs, mud and hundreds of croissant flakes. I did sleep there after removing the hairs. The next morning, there was a long black hair on my freshly washed towel, and my floor towel had a strange brown fleck with a yellow circular stain around it. I’d booked two nights but left after one.

I’m here for four nights with work, and what a dump. Holiday Inn, you should be ashamed. My carpet was full of stains and there was mould in the shower. Thankfully the staff were great, and I changed rooms. The new one was okay. My company is paying a lot for me and the other lads to stay here, and it’s just not good enough. Holiday Inn needs to do better.
