The room felt so homely, and the owner made us feel very welcome with great recommendations. It’s right by the famous Mermaid street, in a prime spot for Rye’s best pubs and cafes. We stayed last night and truly haven’t been to a hotel in years where the owner was so present and lovely. We’ll definitely recommend it to family and friends, and we’ll be back!

A pint on the sun deck was one of the highlights of our trip. Check-in and check-out were really easy, and we had a lovely room in a brilliant location. The staff at The Old Borough Arms were so friendly and kind, and gave us excellent ideas for things to do and places to go. Their hospitality helped make our spectacular weekend in Rye. Thank you so much!

The Old Borough Arms is so centrally located that the railway station, buses and shops are all an easy walk away. The Christmas lights made the shops delightful. Sarah gave us a lovely welcome, and our room had everything we wanted. We also really enjoyed the delicious Borough Arms breakfast. On Sunday, we got a sandwich for the journey home from the Mermaid Street Cafe below the Borough Arms. I’m a very fussy eater, but honestly, I’ve never bought a nicer one. It was huge and packed with ham and the freshest salad. The whole thing was amazing. My friend and I have just come back from a weekend in Rye, and the stay was perfect. If you’re after somewhere homely and spotlessly clean, where nothing seems too much trouble, this is a good choice. For an impersonal stay, choose a larger hotel. I’ll definitely return.

The doors really need adjusting. The guest entrance at the bottom sticks, so if you’re in the room beside it, you hear it slam every time people come and go. In fact, doors seemed to slam constantly throughout the place, starting around 7am as people got on with their day. One morning, staff started taking apart the room next to ours, dragging furniture and banging things around. The cleaners were very loud too, banging Hoovers against things.

The service was spot on, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We had a day out in Rye with family from Surrey and gave the Sunday roast a 10/10. Some of us even had room for banoffee pie afterwards! Definitely recommend this lovely place for food and drinks.
