Crown Spa Hotel Scarborough by Compass Hospitality

The rooms at the back were a pleasant surprise in terms of quality and service. We booked a deal directly with the hotel. The staff were friendly and professional, and the rooms were warm, with a good shower and a very comfortable bed. The location was good too. There was a nice spa, and the social area was a lovely place to play games or chat after dinner. A special shout out to the manager and waitress. We highly recommend it and will return.

The location and beautiful sea view were the only things I liked. Parking was £10, and even then a space wasn't guaranteed. In my experience, Crown Spa Hotel doesn't meet 4-star standards. I'd put it closer to two stars. The room hadn't been cleaned properly, the carpets were ripped and dirty, and the bath and toilet were unclean. There was very little tea, coffee and milk, not enough for a couple. I wouldn't stay here again.

We had a large room with a lovely sea view for our stay as a couple over Valentine's. The spa and swimming pool were good. The carpet had more ripples in it than the Alps, though, and for a supposedly 4-star hotel I didn't expect the room to go unmade. The bed wasn't made and the tea, coffee and milk weren't topped up. That's poor service for a 4-star. This hotel could be really good, but it needs some work.

We had a really enjoyable pre-Christmas stay at the Crown Spa Hotel and will return. We were redirected by Carl at the Norbreck, where we'd originally booked through Groupon. The package we'd booked wasn't actually available, and Carl was a great help. When we arrived, the Crown's reception staff quickly sorted things out and put us in a lovely executive suite double room. They offered us the deal we should have had, with bed and breakfast, an evening meal, plus a bottle to go with the meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. Special mention to Miguel in the restaurant, who looked after us throughout. He's a great guy with a fantastic work ethic, and an asset to the hotel.
