Amy was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and our room was clearly well cared for and up to a good standard. We all slept really well in the comfortable beds with lovely pillows. The sea view was beautiful, and it was lovely to sit with a coffee in the morning while everyone else was still asleep. There’s no food available, but the little bar is well stocked and reasonably priced, and free tea and coffee are available. My daughter counted 18 different types of tea! The room had a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge, and there are plenty of facilities for heating food. In the bar area, there’s a good selection of board games and cosy chairs and sofas for relaxing after a long day. The beach and some fab restaurants and cafes are very easy to get to. The only four-star thing about this hotel was the toilet rolls. It was described as a 4 star hotel, but nothing could be further from the truth. I tell it like it is, good or bad, and I’ll never recommend this place. The room was cold and tiny. I’ve stayed in bigger spare rooms. The bedside wall lights were very loose, the wallpaper was old, and the ceiling needed serious attention. Even the water cups were the white plastic ones from a vending machine. The one bright spot was the lovely welcome from the girl who gave us our room key. I understand you get what you pay for, but I still felt severely overcharged. What made it worse was being told this was the first weekend of opening, which meant they’d had all winter to sort these issues out.

Room 6 on the third floor meant a bit of a climb, but the views over the bay were spectacular. The room was nice and the bed comfortable. This is a reasonably priced hotel in a great location, with good parking, a nice dining area and bar, and seating at the front and back for a drink in the sunshine. Breakfast isn’t included, but you can book it the night before. Like most hotels in Scarborough, it’s in an old building, but it’s well kept and decorated. It’s across the road from the cricket ground, and an easy walk to the Park or town centre. The young lady who runs it was friendly and helpful. We were very happy with our choice and would recommend it.

We only stayed one night, but honestly could have stayed longer. Our large room was comfortable and well equipped, with tea and coffee facilities and a nice en-suite. The views across North Bay Scarborough were beautiful.
