The Plough Scalby

We booked at the last minute for a quick trip to Scarborough and left feeling completely relaxed. The food was delicious and carefully made, and the cocktails were gorgeous and expertly mixed. The welcome was warm and attentive from the start. The decor felt both charming and sophisticated, and the attention to detail carried through to the crisp, luxurious bed linen and thoughtfully stocked mini bar, right down to the neatly folded toilet roll. The pub was clean, comfortable and stylish. Our one-night stay felt like a treat. A hidden gem for hospitality, comfort and quality, and highly recommended. Thanks, we’ll be back!

The staff were fantastic and it’s dog friendly, both big pluses. But the food let the place down. The price was premium, while the quality and flavour weren’t. For £20 I’d have been singing its praises, but for what we paid, we expected more. Judging just the food, I’d give it 3/5, even though I really wish I could score it higher.

We weren’t staying here, but found it on a Monday evening during our holiday. The food and service were both excellent. It’s well worth getting away from the beaten track and eating where the locals go. Well done.

The pub was packed last Saturday despite the weather, but the food and service were spot on. We tried the halibut and a pie from the specials board, and both were delicious. Highly recommend this place.
