Holiday Inn Express Sheffield Centre

I used to think of Holiday Inn as a dependable place to stay when travelling, but this visit has changed that for me. A woman urgently needed a restroom and was refused access. We were willing to buy something if that was required, but staff answered dismissively and unkindly instead of showing discretion in an obvious emergency. Some places do limit facilities to customers, but this situation called for basic compassion. The response was deeply disappointing and reflects badly on customer care. I hope the hotel takes the feedback seriously. I won’t use Holiday Inn again.

We felt safe during our visit, and the room was impressively clean and comfortable for a budget hotel. The car park was handy too. Housekeeping had been stopped during our stay, but anything extra we needed was available. The woman at reception was lovely, and the man at the bar kindly walked us through breakfast arrangements. A pleasant stay all around, and I’m really glad I chose this hotel in Sheffield.

Breakfast was self-serve, tasty, and had plenty to choose from. The shower room was brilliant, with a roomy shower, two large fluffy bath towels, and two hand towels. There were tea and coffee facilities, and housekeeping could be contacted for forgotten toiletries. It was my first stay at a Holiday Inn Express and I was more impressed than I expected. The bed was huge and comfortable, with both soft and firm pillows to choose from. Best hotel I’ve stayed in, and I’d highly recommend it.

Getting to the hotel by car was easy, straight in from the motorway, and after a four-hour drive we found a parking spot right away. Parking was about £6 a night. The room was pleasant with a decent window view, though the TV menu froze now and then, perhaps just on that set. The shower was really nice; the beds were only alright. The included breakfast made the stay for me. The food wasn’t superb, but it was worth having as part of the room, especially with vegetarian choices and Quorn sausages. I missed having hash browns, which would have earned five stars from me. Fresh yogurt was a nice finish, the orange juice was a bit weak, and there was plenty to take away if you were rushing. Weekend breakfast ran 7-11, a useful window. Other hotels charge a lot extra for breakfast, so I was fine with the free meal.
