The reception staff were brilliant, helpful, polite and friendly. The location is good too, but that's about all this Travel lodge has going for it. I stayed for five weeks from January into February. The rooms need a complete overhaul: the walls and carpets were stained, they smelled stale, and the mattresses, duvets and pillows need replacing. Cleaning seemed like someone had gone around once with a duster and just shifted the dirt. The heaters only went up to 24°, which barely took the chill off. I tried setting them to 29° or 30° in a few different rooms, but they reset to 24° within about ten seconds. You get a key and are left alone all week, with no one coming in to empty the bins or do similar tasks. The price also went up by over £120 for four nights within those five weeks. Not an impressive Travel lodge.
I have family nearby, but it's convenient to stay here. I've been a few times now. The location is fantastic, it's always quiet, there's parking, and the staff are friendly. It's clean and has everything I need. Nothing to complain about. See you again next month :-)
The room felt warm and welcoming, with fluffy pillows, extra ones in the wardrobe, plenty of towels, and lots of complimentary tea and coffee. The staff were amazing and helped with all my luggage. They also provided an immaculate baby travel cot. There's an Asda Express across the road, as well as a Burger King. Everyone there, including the manager, made me and my two toddlers feel very welcome. I was there under difficult circumstances, which was a shame, but the stay itself was welcoming. Thank you to all the staff who supported us while we were there. Natasha smith
The location was good, close to services where you can get hot food. The room was clean, but the heater was too small to keep it warm. I asked a staff member to turn it up, but it was locked with a code and couldn't be adjusted. Breakfast was a boxed economy breakfast you had to collect downstairs in the morning. I didn't like it. No good, I wouldn't go again.
The location was handy for Shrewsbury Park and Ride and Dobbies Garden Centre, and there was plenty of free parking. But we won't stay again. Our children were very disturbed and had interrupted sleep because of the noise. Guests upstairs were noisy until 11pm, and the rooms have so little soundproofing that you hear every door slam or close. The beds were uncomfortable, towels were limited, and there was only one pillow per bed with no spares in the room. No one was at reception to ask.
