The Monsell Hotel

A real gem! My husband and I stayed for one night in a really large room and had no complaints. The owners were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and getting in with the key fob was easy. There's parking, and the seafront is only a five-minute walk away. We'd definitely come back, and I'd highly recommend it.

The owners were very friendly, and it was handy that we could leave our bags there for a small fee and collect them later. I booked a little getaway with the Mrs and was really happy with the stay. The room was clean and quiet, the bed was very comfortable, and the tea and coffee were great for the Mrs. We'd happily come again and recommend it to friends and family. Keep up the great work.

For breakfast I chose the cheaper beans on toast instead of a full English. The room was clean, the shower was a good size, and the price was reasonable. I'd definitely stay again, and I think this should really be a 3 star hotel. Parking might be a problem if you're unlucky. I got the last but one space, but there were no spaces on the road either, even though it was 3pm when people would have been at work. The walls are thin, as others have said, and I could easily hear the neighbours on both sides.

The location worked well for us, about a five-minute walk to the beach and 10-15 minutes to the main stretch. The owners were helpful and friendly. Since we were on the second floor and there isn't a lift, I appreciated the guy carrying my bag upstairs. The rooms are spacious and a bit tired, but kept clean. My son dropped something down beside his bed, and I worried about what I'd find when I reached for it, but it was clean. Unfortunately, the travel cot we borrowed wasn't very clean, especially the mesh sides. For the price, I'd consider staying again.
