We arrived to eat at the restaurant and were told they only serve guests staying at the Primer Inn. It looks like a pub or restaurant on the same grounds, though it isn’t attached to The Primer Inn. Most Primer Inns let non-residents use their restaurants. The place was fairly large and almost empty when we got there. Even if guests hadn’t booked, I can’t imagine they needed every table. I was very unhappy that they wouldn’t accept a booking unless we were guests.

The hotel is in an excellent spot for travel, but it’s very outdated and needs investment. I work in the hotel trade, and I know this property needs an upgrade. Check-in was great and friendly. The room smelled damp, so I left the window open and the fan running to try to clear it. I could hear every movement from the bedroom above all night. The bedroom and fittings are showing their age. I didn’t complain because it was very busy and I was only staying overnight.

The breakfast is always good, and the rooms are comfortable and tidy when we arrive. We’ve stayed here countless times, and the staff have started to know us by name. We love this particular Premier Inn, partly because the staff are so friendly and welcoming.

The staff are friendly and the rooms are as expected. It can feel quite warm even with the heating off, so I wish they had air conditioning. The restaurant is for guests only, and you have to book a table when you check in.

The first room was filthy. None of the bed linen had been changed, and it was covered in hairs and dirt. The second room they offered had more space and was better in some ways, but the bed was even dirtier. It hadn’t even been made properly into the frame, and there were lots of huge hairs on the pillows. The AC in the third room was set to 26.5 degrees Celsius, which was unbearable. Terrible experience.
