The kids' meals were excellent, and the pub itself is lovely. Our main meals were a different story. They weren't hot, and the roast beef was tough to cut. Two people sent theirs back to be warmed, but even after the hot plates came back, the food was only warm. We sent both meals back again, and appreciated that they were removed from the bill. The meals felt massively overpriced for what we got. We'd only tried this place because our usual local pub had been amazing but I couldn't get hold of them for this family occasion. The noise here was unbearable, so it was hard to hear each other or have a conversation. It wasn't a good spot for a family catch-up halfway between us. It was very expensive and not enjoyable enough for us to return.

The food was piping hot, well presented and very good. The menu isn't huge, but they do what they offer well, and I can recommend the pie. Staff were attentive and answered our questions. They showed us to our table quickly, and our older dog was well behaved. My in-laws brought us here. It's tucked away off the beaten track, so I wouldn't have found it myself, but the trip was definitely worthwhile. The large car park was busy on a cold evening. They have rooms too, though I didn't stay to comment on them.

The open fire makes for a lovely warm welcome on a cold evening, and dogs are allowed in, though I'm not sure if they have to stay in the bar area. I only stopped for drinks, so can't say anything about the rooms. The Alma is a great country pub, hidden among a maze of country lanes. Its big car park is usually full around meal times, which gives you an idea of the place. There's a good range of food and drinks on the menu.

Tony looked after us so well, and the bar staff and owner James made us feel welcome too. We loved our stay, and the restaurant food was delicious. We had fresh homemade pizzas cooked in the stone oven, and our room had a spectacular view across the Yorkshire moors. We booked our trip to the Alma Inn at the last minute after reading all the fabulous reviews. It's a hidden gem, and we can't wait to come back 🙂

The pub has a cosy feel and the staff were friendly, which made for a relaxed meal. There was a great variety on the menu, with generous portions and seasonal specials that stood out. The food was fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented. I had a fantastic meal at The Alma Inn and would highly recommend it if you're in the area.
