The pork, blue cheese and walnut salad from the £9.95 menu was a warm salad. Plenty of parking, and keep an eye on their page for the different theme nights they host. I went for Thursday lunch. I hadn't been since it reopened, and couldn't fault it. The staff were pleasant and there was a good menu selection with something for different budgets and tastes. Traditional British food with a Yorkshire twist.

Breakfast was a proper hearty Yorkshire one, enough to set you up for the day and a walk around the reservoir and moors. Everything was excellent, especially the bacon, sausages and field mushrooms. It's a lovely place to stay. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was cosy, fresh and clean, with a fabulous, very comfy huge king size bed. They were happy to provide the decaf tea bags I requested for the room.

We came back before Christmas to try the evening menu. The steak and ale pie came with fries, seasonal greens and a jug of beef gravy. We also had the featherblade of beef with fries, honey roasted beets and Lyonnaise potatoes. I'd never tried those potatoes before, and I'm going to look up a recipe online so I can make them myself. The food arrived quickly, hot and delicious. Staff were very welcoming and dog friendly throughout. The hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas. There's a large free car park, a great choice of beers and wines, and plenty on the menu, including vegetarian options. I couldn't see a specials board. Access for disabled customers was good. We hadn't booked, so I can't say if booking is recommended, though it may be worth doing at weekends.

The only small drawback for us was the traffic noise, which started quite early, though that's probably because I'm a country bumpkin. The bedrooms are up two flights of 14 steps, worth knowing. We stayed one night. The bedroom was a good size with a comfy super king bed and tasteful decor. The pub is welcoming, mostly set up for food but still has character, and the food was very good with a nice selection.

The food was outstanding and the service amazing. We arrived at the last minute and still got 100% from all the staff. The owners are a lovely couple. Big thanks to everyone, I'd highly recommend it!
