We had the four poster room, and the bed was so comfortable. It’s an old, quirky place with uneven floors, but we loved it and would happily stay again. Breakfast was lovely too, with cereal, toast, yoghurt, juice and a very nice full English. Thank you!

The hotel is close to the cathedral, shops and restaurants, and the staff were kind and very accommodating. It’s a lovely place for anyone wanting the feel of a historic building, with some fun history along the way. The reception, bar, restaurant and room all fit that 15th century character. It isn’t the Hilton, but that historic atmosphere is the point. Our room was a little small and the floor uneven, though it worked fine and had all the amenities. The bed was comfortable too. What a unique stay, we’d happily come back.

The building has been operating as a hotel since the 1400s. Our room was large and the bed was fine, though the old floors are uneven, something people with mobility impairments may want to know. Breakfast is optional and costs 12 pounds per person. I booked months ahead, so be sure to confirm your breakfast plans in advance.

The room needed attention. There was a hole in the window frame, the bedroom furniture was old in a worn-out way, and the radiator didn’t work, so they provided a plug-in heater. It also smelled of cigarette smoke when we walked in. Maybe it came from customers smoking outside, but it still wasn’t pleasant. We didn’t get a particularly warm welcome, and the barman wasn’t very friendly. Breakfast was okay, though nobody showed us where to sit or what we could help ourselves to. At checkout, they just took the key and didn’t ask how our stay had been. The hotel needs some investment, and the staff could use customer service training.

Lovely lunch with the family, the food was fantastic and the service was great. I really like the dining room interior and would come back. A little festive music or soft jazz in the background would be nice. Thanks!
