Grange Lodge

I came for the 2024 Guernsey marathon and booked three nights, which turned into four when my ferry crossing was cancelled. The staff were helpful and managed to fit in an extra night for me. Breakfast was very good and the service was top notch. I liked the location too, about a 10-15 minute walk into town, with easy access to the buses. I’d happily stay here again.

The heated pool was a lovely way to end the day, and I found the beds comfortable and the rooms clean. The hotel is pleasant, with an interesting history that suits its old fashioned décor. There’s something nostalgically comforting about buying a 30p postcard at reception and having real waiting staff take your breakfast order. The room was too warm for comfortable sleep, and street noise was a bit disturbing. Air conditioning and some work on the windows might help. Breakfast was fine, though not memorable. The mushrooms were a little soft and the bacon could have been crispier.

We spent a week here in peak July season and had a wonderful time. The hotel has real charm and history, having been run by a family for generations. Our spacious room felt suited to a longer stay, with plenty of room and furniture for a couple. It was clean and well maintained, and both the room and cleaning service were excellent throughout. The staff made us feel at home from the start. The pool was clean and well cared for, and a refreshing place to spend time. Breakfast was included, with a good range of choices, and we enjoyed eating in the scenic garden. The team exceeded our expectations and made the stay memorable. A lovely mix of history, comfort and warm hospitality.

The road into town is busy, so rooms facing it can be noisy. Next time, we’ll ask for a room at the back overlooking the amazing garden. We stayed for a week and really enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. The staff were cheerful and helpful every time. Breakfast was excellent, and the bar had good value options for both lunch and dinner. The swimming pool was a lovely surprise.
