The location worked well, just a five-minute walk into town, and parking was £7 a day right outside. The room was clean, with tea and coffee provided. Ava was brilliant, though she was leaving because she “could not take anymore”; the hotel will really miss her. The room stayed very cold, and I had to ask reception to turn the heating back on each day. On our first day there was no food delivery, so the choice for dinner and breakfast was very limited. We were told dinner was nearly fully booked and offered only an 8.30 slot, even though I could see 16 empty tables at 7.45. We still had to wait until 8.30. I also waited 20 minutes at the bar while the same staff were covering reception, the dining room and the bar.

The staff were probably the politest and most helpful I’ve ever dealt with, and that’s what would bring me back. It’s also just a few minutes on foot from the town centre. The room was nice, but not being able to open the window made it a bit stuffy. The air conditioning helped, though it was too noisy to leave on while trying to sleep.

Ewa deserves a mention for keeping calm, helpful and polite while running a busy Saturday breakfast. The hotel is a short walk from town, with paid parking right outside, and makes a good budget base. Our Premier Plus room was clean and well equipped, with a view over the canal and local businesses. It also had a walk-in shower, which was great and unusual for a Premier Inn. One of the best Premier Inns!

The family room was spacious, clean and tidy, and breakfast was good. Getting a suitable breakfast time was difficult, though, so we had to go earlier than we wanted. The air con in our room didn’t work at all. It’s really close to all the hustle and bustle, and we’d still use the hotel again.

Rosa at reception was especially kind and helpful when I mentioned I was in the middle of moving house. She sat me down and made me a much-needed coffee. We had a great stay. The refurbished family room was lovely and extremely comfortable. The hotel is five minutes from town, with lots of amenities nearby. I’d really recommend it.
