The Bear of Rodborough Hotel

The bar downstairs has lots of different corners, so we could easily find a quiet spot to chat over a pint. Staff were helpful and friendly, and breakfast was delicious with great views. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed, including a Nespresso machine. I also really liked the shortbread on the table. A lovely country house hotel, whether you’re after a romantic break or a base for visiting Stroud. Getting a taxi to and from the Stroud Wine Company tasting was very easy.

The room was nice, and the bar area was really comfortable. I had the best burger I’ve had in a hotel by a long way, and the Guiness was great, incredibly smooth. Breakfast won’t disappoint either, with great coffee and amazing pastries.

The food was excellent and the staff were very kind, but the room wasn’t properly maintained. There was dust on the ceiling beams, no vacuuming for the last three days, and the kettle was in very poor condition. The windows didn’t close properly either, so the room got very cold at night. Great hospitality, but the cleanliness needs urgent improvement.

The team were fantastic and accommodating throughout our lovely stay. We ate both breakfast and dinner on site on both days. Our spacious room had a beautiful view of the countryside, and we especially liked having walking paths just outside the front door. The views were fantastic, and the cows on site and in town were very cute.
