The place is a handy central base for the Midlands, Staffordshire, or nearby attractions. Tamworth Castle is next door, the retail park is across the road, Snowdome is just around the corner, and Drayton Manor and Twycross Zoo are nearby. Birmingham is about 20 minutes away. It’s clean, good value, and the service is friendly. The hotel was recently refurbished, and the upgraded bathrooms are a welcome change. Our bedding, bathrooms, and carpets were clean. Parking is free on site. As at all Premier Inns, kids stay free and eat free. The WiFi didn’t work on day one. Support weren’t very helpful and couldn’t fix it, but it started working the next day. Slow WiFi is free, and the faster option costs £5 a day. The room thermostat kept resetting to a very low temperature and turning off the heat, so we woke up cold. Luckily reception gave us a plug-in electric heater, which was a godsend and made the stay comfortable. The hotel stay was made especially nice by breakfast next door at the Ladybridge Beefeater. All the staff were brilliant, especially Gail, who went the extra mile and was a real gem, plus Kelly, Joao, Tyler, and chefs Chris and Dave. Suzanna deserves special mention for working so hard to keep guests comfortable. She was friendly, accommodating, and kind. Jenny was a star, extremely helpful and friendly, and Dean was very kind and helpful too. There were other lovely staff whose names I don’t know, and I’m sorry I can’t mention them. We also met an exceptionally kind guest, which was heartwarming. It was a pleasant stay, and we’d definitely return. Credit to the manager and the team. Highly recommend for families visiting the area.

We had a ground-floor room with a comfortable bed, great blackout curtains, tea and coffee, and extra-comfy pillows. The family rooms are good, and cots were available for our grandchildren’s families. Breakfast is worth buying, especially as children eat free with each paying adult. Book breakfast and dinner ahead. Hotel and Beefeater staff were friendly and helpful. Snowdonia and the shopping centre are close, and there’s also a good, very busy McDonald’s.

That’s it for me and Premier Inn. Every stay is a joke. I travel all over the country, and at £100 a night I keep getting shoddy rooms, rooms that are boiling, or terrible showers. Customers paying good money shouldn’t be treated so disrespectfully. The young woman at reception tried another room, but it was the same. I appreciate she was having a bit of fun when she said, “At least it’s hot,” but that’s not a solution paying guests should have to accept. So, £100 a night and I’ll be showering at work for the next five days. Cracking deal. Room 124 and room 20 had the same problem. Get me home!

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the hotel and room were clean and well kept. I upgraded because I was on a business trip and needed a suitable workspace. The better room worked for that, but I’d hoped for a bigger desk or table so I could work more comfortably.

The staff were great, and both check-in and checkout were hassle-free. I stayed three nights. The room was like any other Premier Inn, really clean, equipped well enough to be comfortable, and generally peaceful at night. It’s a really nice hotel, and I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m working in the area.
