Had ribeye with salad both nights and was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding quality. The pub is well stocked, with drinks you don’t find in most other pubs, and Hamish really knows his stuff. A pleasure to meet you, well done. The rooms are a mixed bag: some could use modernising, while others are totally outdated.

The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and breakfast excellent. But the room was cold, and the shower pressure was poor, with water that swung between far too hot and freezing. Being on the high-street side with single-glazed windows also meant quite a bit of noise. It wasn’t the worst place I’ve stayed, but it certainly wasn’t great.

The meal was delicious, compliments to the chef, and the attentive staff were first class. From my first interaction and check-in with the lovely receptionist, the place had a great atmosphere. My room was clean and fresh, too. I was booked in for an overnight work trip and would highly recommend it without a doubt.

I took a friend for a carvery and we had an amazing time. The food was wonderful, and although I’ve only got one stomach, I filled it completely. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. I can highly recommend this place.

It wasn’t even busy, but the service was embarrassing. We waited 15 minutes for a menu, then had to go ask for one ourselves. Another 10 minutes passed before anyone took our order, and when we went back to the bar, we were told someone would take it at the table. After ordering, we waited 15 more minutes without drinks. In total, it took 35 minutes, and we ended up collecting them from the bar ourselves. I used to really enjoy this place, but the bar staff were so useless that I won’t be back.
