Premier Inn Manchester Old Trafford

The location gave us a great river and Old Trafford view. I've stayed at several Premier Inns, and this was one of the best. The room and the rest of the building were clean, tidy, and well prepared. The woman at reception was cheerful and made me laugh with her collection of pens in her purple hair. Bar and restaurant staff were just as accommodating. The food was decent, and I was surprised by how good the Guinness was.

The breakfast was fresh and tasty, and we'd stay here again. It's one of the nicer Premier Inns we've tried in Manchester. We came to visit family, and the location is fantastic, right across from Manchester United football stadium. You might get a room overlooking it, but we didn't, and the boys were disappointed. We'll ask to move rooms next time. Our room felt small and had only one light by the door. There was just one towel for the five of us, though reception obviously had more.

After a long trip with two children, the kind, cheerful woman at reception, who had pens in her hair, was a bright spot. The rest of the experience was awful. A strong sewage-like smell from the bathroom made our room unusable. We were moved next door, but that room smelled the same, so it seemed to be a wider problem. When we went back to reception, the same staff member was patronising and unhelpful, after being rude and disrespectful when we first reported it. We later heard that a family nearby had the same issue and felt reluctant to complain because of how this staff member treated them at check-in. Is that really Premier Inn's service standard? For a family stay, this was completely unacceptable. What should have been a comfortable night became frustrating and disappointing. Premier Inn usually has a good reputation, which made this even more disappointing.

Salford Quays is a short walk away, with shops, a mall, restaurants, and pleasant spots to explore by the water. It's a handy base for football, sightseeing, or a weekend away. We had a lovely stay: the hotel was clean and comfortable, with the dependable Premier Inn feel, and the staff were friendly. The standout is the location, right across from Old Trafford, so it's ideal for match days. Comfy rooms and a hard-to-beat spot, highly recommended.
