The Argyll Hotel

Karen, a lovely lady, pointed us towards Corrieshalloch Gorge, a fantastic spot for nature. The croissants were delicious, and the shampoo in the shower smelled really nice. My son and I had a small twin room, but it worked well and the view was amazing. We were only there one night, so didn’t get much chance to experience the hotel. Nice wee place.

The staff were lovely, and the view was gorgeous. We were desperate for somewhere to stay over Christmas, so this basic place did the job, but it’s bog standard pub accommodation. The room was freezing, smelled pretty funky, and had someone else’s hair band on the bed when we arrived. There was no bathroom heating. At breakfast the yogurts were nine days out of date and the fruit was mouldy.

The bathroom really needs proper decorating, and its ceiling was mouldy. The pillows felt as hard as stone, and noise carried between rooms. Breakfast was adequate, but for what we got it felt too expensive, and I wouldn’t stay again. We were there one night: the room had a wonderful view, a big bed, clean sheets, large towels and a large TV. The staff were very nice and friendly.

The fire was on, which was one plus, though it did little to warm the atmosphere. We came in because the pub looked welcoming outside, but inside the decor was very odd and the staff seemed strange. Food was very expensive and service average at best. There was a smell of marijuana on the premises. Avoid.
