Dinner was a treat, with a lovely table by the fire in the snug, excellent service and delicious food. I did find the portions a little small, though. The restaurant can feel like it’s trying a bit too hard to be fancy, when I’d rather have a bigger helping. My colleague and I stayed at The Royal Oak Hotel last week in a twin bedroom. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had good pressure, but the two beds were so close together they might as well have been one double. When you book a twin, you expect more space between the beds. The hotel was good value for money.

The location gets a little noisy if you need to sleep with the bedroom window open, and I found the room a bit small. Still, there were no issues with its quality or cleanliness. The food at The Royal Oak was very enjoyable and of a high standard, and the staff were attentive, helpful and extremely friendly. It was a very good experience, and I’ll definitely recommend it.

What really made our stay was the staff. They were so welcoming, friendly and helpful, and did everything they could to make it a great visit. We also loved the cosy, spacious rooms and the small-town setting. There’s a coffee area, a bar that’s dog friendly, and a restaurant, all with open fires that were perfect in winter. The food was amazing and the cocktails were gorgeous. Absolutely excellent, 10/10. We’ll 100% stay again, thank you. If you don’t book this hotel, you’re missing out!

Our first visit to The Royal Oak in Welshpool was an unplanned stop for lunch, and it was a very nice surprise. We enjoyed friendly, professional service, good food and drinks, plus a menu with plenty of choice and several different, pleasant places to sit. We’ll come back, thank you : - )
