You’re right among the attractions and places to eat, with the Zoo and BCLM just a 10-minute walk away. The rooms are lovely, the bed’s so comfortable, and I had a brilliant night’s sleep. Definitely one of the better places to stay, and I’d recommend it.

This hotel’s within walking distance of both the Zoo & Castle and the local museums, which made our trip easy. I stayed with my mum, who needed an accessible room, and the arrangements were handled perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the in-house restaurant was especially good. When the chef saw me filling a plate without meat, they offered vegetarian sausages and bacon without me even asking. With Premier Inn, you know what to expect from the room, which is reassuring.

£346 for two nights feels like poor value. The room was okay, but there wasn’t a proper wardrobe, just one towel for a two-night stay with no room service, and the heating controls either didn’t work or didn’t work properly. For that price, I’d also expect toilet rolls instead of a paper dispenser. That’s been a long-standing issue with the brand. Dinner was questionable, breakfast was fairly basic, and there was a long wait for eggs. You also have to ask reception to make up the room. This is a good example of what’s wrong with the brand, and it’s not worth the money.

The breakfast was okay, and Joseph, I believe that was his name, was lovely to talk to and incredibly accommodating. We’d emailed to request interconnected rooms, and they arranged them and confirmed it at check-in. But when we got there, the connecting door was locked, and the second room hadn’t been made up as booked. Sorting that out was a bit of a faff with three young children.
