The restaurant being aboard a historic ship makes for an unusual, interesting setting, and the atmosphere was nice. But the food let it down. The seafood platter and fish and chips looked decent, yet lacked flavour and didn't taste especially fresh. The chips were greasy too. At £64 for our table, the quality didn't meet the price. If the food is your main reason for going, you might want to think twice.

It's a quirky place and could be a good experience if the food were better. My children and I had a pepperoni pizza and children's fish and chips. The pizza was undercooked and very poor. The chips were frozen and rubbish, and the children barely ate them. In Whitby, chips shouldn't be frozen. The fish was okay, though my son said it was wet. We eat fish and chips often as locals, and these were well below par.

We were a party of ten during Folk week, with dancers outside. A friendly lady took us to the captain's dining area, where we felt really special. There was history all around and a lovely atmosphere, and the food was amazing, especially the fresh fish. Every server was so friendly. Thanks for making it such a magical family experience. The one drawback is that the ship isn't wheelchair friendly. Otherwise, this has become my new favourite place. The fish and chips were the best I've had: gorgeous white, tasty fish with batter that wasn't too thick and had no soggy bits. The chips were crisp without being hard, and delicious. Staff were very friendly, and it was brilliant exploring all three levels of the ship. There are toilets on board, and it's a four-minute walk from the harbour car park. £30 for two fish and chips with almost any drink included felt very fair. Bring your kids or partner, it's well worth it.

The ship is a great place for kids to explore and have a wonderful time, with plenty to choose from and good-quality food. We had a very good meal aboard. It felt surreal eating on a boat floating by the harbour wall.
