The separate bar, restaurant and breakfast areas gave the hotel a lovely feel, with smaller spaces tucked around the building. We tried both the bar and restaurant menus and found plenty to choose from. Our room looked out over the garden and lake, and there was lots of parking and outdoor space to wander. Helen showed us around and took us to our room when we arrived, a really nice welcome. The staff were helpful, attentive and chatty. We stayed three nights on our first visit and had a great time.

The grounds gave us so many lovely spots for wedding photos, and even the foggy day didn't spoil the backdrop. We got married here in nov 25 and couldn't have picked a better venue. The food was exceptional, and our guests have kept telling us about the kind interactions they had with the staff. From our first visit through to the day itself, the wedding team went above and beyond, with clear, prompt communication throughout. We can see why they keep winning awards. If you're thinking of having your special day at the Cragwood, we'd say go for it. The venue and team made it wonderful.

We were given a voucher for Christmas, so booked a January night away. The grounds are lovely, and I bet they look even better in summer. It’s only a 10-minute drive from Bowness and Windermere, with a good-sized car park. The staff were polite and welcoming. We'd definitely come back.

Our room had a terrace, which made it easy to take the dog out into the lovely grounds beside the lake. The food was delicious and each plate looked so good it felt a shame to tuck in. Everyone on staff was friendly and did a lot to make us feel welcome and relaxed. We had a lovely night at Cragwood Country House Hotel. It's between Bowness and Ambleside, and there's a ferry jetty right next door at Brockhole. I'd happily recommend staying here.

The lake views from the hotel and grounds were exceptional, and the staff knew their stuff and were very attentive. Our room was clean, as was the recently refurbished bathroom. The room itself felt a bit tired and showed its age, though. I'd still have no hesitation recommending the venue to friends and family.
