Storrs Hall

We've stayed at and eaten at Storrs Hall many times before, and the service has always been exemplary. That's why this evening's encounter was so disappointing. Apart from this incident, Storrs Hall is an exceptional hotel, with the elegance, atmosphere and hospitality it's known for. I hope we can continue enjoying that hospitality in future. When we received our breakfast tea (Pennington’s, a locally sourced product), Sticky Toffee Pudding and two cocktails, George put them down abruptly and with obvious irritation. There was no basic courtesy or acknowledgement, and we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. When we politely tried to ask him something, he cut us off to say he was “extremely busy” and walked away before we could speak further. It was unsettling, and far below the attentive service guests would reasonably expect from Storrs Hall. I believe this was an isolated incident, but I wanted to bring it to management's attention so it can be reviewed, George's conduct addressed, and similar treatment avoided for future guests. We hold Storrs Hall in high regard, and offer this feedback constructively.

The public spaces felt straight out of an Agatha Christie novel, and the bar was something else. Our bedroom was outstanding too, and the bathroom earned a place in my camera roll. Everyone was friendly and helpful, nothing felt like too much trouble, and they made our wedding day unforgettable. Julia and Izzy kept everything running smoothly while making it look effortless. The breakfast staff shared our excitement, the bar staff wished us luck, and the receptionists felt like friends. The chefs are superb, and we couldn't fault a single thing, from the venue to the people. I can see us celebrating our anniversary at Storrs for years. Never change what you do, Storrs! ❤️

We'd happily return, without hesitation. The breakfast had plenty of choice, and it was a pleasure not to be served buffet style. We also ate in the Bistro one evening, with lots to choose from for a short break like ours. It was our first stay at this hotel, though our fourth visit to Bowness. The room was clean and comfortable, with a great view, and the ensuite had a good walk-in shower. There wasn't much room for toiletries. The location is beautiful, and the staff were friendly, courteous and attentive without intruding.

We had a lovely weekend here, and I'd come back. The room was beautiful and so big we joked we could have held a party in it. The service was great, and the reception ladies were kind and very helpful. They helped me decorate the room to surprise my partner for their birthday, and it all went really well.
