George at Easingwold

The food was the highlight of our first visit, and I’ll definitely be back. I hadn’t read any reviews beforehand and didn’t know what to expect. Everything arrived piping hot and beautifully presented. The fish of the day was perfectly cooked, with potatoes and cream sauce that went well with it. The duck breasts were spot on too. The fish and chips were something special, better than some well-known fish and chip shops, I’d say. The batter was light, crisp, nicely seasoned and not greasy, and the large piece of fish was cooked perfectly. Every other part of the plate was just right as well. The serving staff were fantastic, professional and polite, and nothing was too much trouble. It’s a very well-run restaurant. Even though it’s out of my way, I’ll definitely come again. 10/10.

We only ate in the restaurant, so I can’t comment on the rooms. The food was delicious again. I asked if there was a chicken dish, and the staff went above and beyond by making a wonderful one just for me. The rest of our group loved their muscle dish, steak pie, burger and fish dishes. The staff were brilliant, and I’d certainly recommend the George Hotel.

The desserts, STP and chocolate mousse, were excellent too. The meal at The George was fabulous from start to finish. My son’s steak was cooked perfectly, and my salmon with mussel and sweetcorn chowder was really tasty. My husband enjoyed the steak and ale pie so much that he stopped talking, which says it all! Service was friendly and attentive, as always, from the whole team. Special thanks to John and Elijah.

Theo deserves a special mention. He made our wedding anniversary stay feel really special. It’s a lovely hotel, with good food and staff who are both attentive and friendly.
