Middletons Hotel

The cottages are especially lovely, and the rooms in general are stunning. The food is fantastic too, particularly the sticky toffee pudding. We held our wedding breakfast and drinks reception at Middletons, which was a perfect place for an intimate celebration. There are several spots for the ceremony, reception and meal, and the conservatory is spectacular, full of natural light and beautiful without needing much decoration. Marilene made our small wedding breakfast feel so special. She kept everything running smoothly, even when changes came up, and made sure the rooms were ready and all our guests were looked after. Middletons has our hearts, and we'll be back for our first anniversary and plenty more milestones.

I only spent one night at Middleton's in Jan 2025 while taking my daughter back to university, but this place is such a find that I'll definitely return. I almost didn't want to review it in case it gets booked up before my next visit. The room was spacious, spotless and comfortable, with a great shower pressure, a personal bugbear of mine, plus a bar fridge stocked with fresh milk. Reception was friendly and efficient. The price was very reasonable for a hotel just a short walk from the city walls and central attractions. What's not to love?

We had a lovely time with my youngest son and his wife, and the spread was as good as ever. The warm fruit scones with jam and cream were tasty, and there were sandwiches with salmon and cream cheese, cheese and pickle, and ham and mustard. We also enjoyed the macaroons, Victoria sponge, chocolate sponge, chocolate orange ganache, and a choice of drinks. Our host was attentive and friendly, making us feel like special guests. Thanks to Middletons for a lovely memory. On another visit, we used a YO1 Middleton's afternoon tea voucher for four. The gentleman serving us was welcoming and professional, even while busy, and we appreciated that. Sandwiches with ham and lettuce, cheese and pickle, and salmon and cream cheese were fresh and tasty. The warm fruit scones were lovely with jam and cream, and the cake selection included macaroons, brownies and other cakes. It was a nice experience to share as a couple or with friends. Thanks to our waiter for making us feel valued.

The hotel is close enough to York centre to be convenient, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. It has onsite parking, which was a bonus, and it's near the station. Staff were helpful and the products in the room were high quality. A lovely hotel, and I'd recommend it and stay again next time I'm in York.
