Hyatt Centric Old Town Alexandria

I've stayed here twice now, and it's one of my favorite hotels. The location on King Street is ideal, close to the metro, and the Hyatt team does a great job keeping things clean. I'm pretty particular about cleanliness, so that really stands out to me. One thing I'd like to see added: bed bug covers on the beds. It's 2025, and that would be a welcome improvement. I'd recommend staying here.

The location gets a 10/10 from me, but the rooms were small, uncomfortable, and poorly kept. The check-in staff seemed uninterested in talking to guests and acted like I was a bother. We also couldn't find the valet whenever we returned, and the service wasn't available at the times you'd normally expect. The service was a 0/10 for me. We checked out early and moved to the Hilton because the experience fell below what I expect from Hyatt.

What made the stay pleasant was the front desk staff. The women working mornings and evenings were so warm and welcoming, a real change from the indifferent reception I've encountered at hotels of every star level. I wish I knew their names. Thank you to them! The room itself was pretty average for what I'd call an upscale hotel, though it was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was nice. I came by train and metro, and the station was only about a quarter mile away. That does mean Old Town, with its restaurants and waterfront, is farther off. I didn't mind at first, but after walking downtown and around Mount Vernon for a couple of days, my feet were tired.

The hotel was spotless throughout, and the staff were both professional and really friendly. My room had a Keurig, a mini fridge, a comfortable bed, and a fantastic shower. It was also convenient for catching the free King st trolley. No problems at all, I'd stay here again.
