Quality Inn Alexandria

The room was cheap, and the stay was adequate, though neither especially good nor bad. Getting my security deposit back was the frustrating part. When I checked out, the clerk spent about five minutes clicking around on the computer before returning it, and it seemed like he was trying to avoid giving it back. Earlier, they had also resisted giving me a receipt for the deposit, though they did hand one over after I asked.

The location is excellent for Alexandria, and the rooms are decent enough, though service is mostly self-service. What bothered me was the $100 deposit. I asked at check-in whether it would be returned right when I checked out, rather than days later, and was told it would be. Now they're saying it could take five or six business days. I can't have that money tied up on my budget, and it puts me in a real bind. If I'd known, I wouldn't have stayed. I won't recommend this place.

The accessibility setup was a struggle, since the chairs were so low that we had trouble standing up. Water dripping above the handicap ramp also made it unusable. The room smelled really musty, and the hot breakfast amounted to a waffle. A dresser blocked the full-length mirror, and there was a crack in the ceiling along with a loose toilet seat. One of the worst stays I've had.

The towels and beds were clean, but there was no hot shower water. The water was scalding when I tried to wash my face or brush my teeth. In my opinion, the place costs way too much, especially since about 90% of the rooms need renovating.
