Extend-a-Suites Amarillo West

The desk was unattended when I came back from breakfast on checkout morning, and my key had already been shut off. I got back at 9:30 and was still on the phone with the booking company at 10:15, trying to get into my room before a two-hour drive to a meeting. The staff member finally showed up at 10:20. I guess she lives here. Budget hotels can be hidden gems, but this one definitely isn’t.

Pretty quiet, with big rooms, and a good spot for weekly rates. The woman who took my reservation was wonderful. I can't remember her name, but thank you.

After a long drive, I finally reached the hotel I’d reserved earlier that day, only to be told at the desk that there were no rooms. Getting there meant walking through a lot of construction mess, too. I explained I’d already paid, but the clerk said I’d have to contact hotels dot con to get my money back.

I picked this place mostly because of the price. The room itself was nice, but the bed was uncomfortable enough that I could feel the springs, and the bathroom light was so dim I had to leave the door open to see. Staff were okay, though they seemed like they didn’t want to be bothered. I don’t think I’ll stay again.
