Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Amarillo

Our truck was being fixed and we needed somewhere at the last minute. The mechanic recommended this place, and it was just what we needed: clean and comfortable. We could walk to get a quick bite, and Love's was within walking distance too. Happy with the stay.

Finding the place was a bit of a challenge. There's no sign, and it's tucked into a maze of access roads, so you'll need navigation. The rooms were clean and quite large, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. They seem to be renovating, but it was still a good place to stay.

The breakfast was a real bright spot, with a great variety and something for everyone. The hotel is family friendly and conveniently just off the highway, with fast food places within walking distance. Big TEX steak house and Cadillac Ranch are only 15 minutes away. We'd recommend staying here. The lobby was clean and nice, customer service was great, and our room was very spacious and clean. The bed wasn't comfortable, though, and the shower pressure was really weak and slow. I believe the hotel is under new management and used to be a different hotel. The current name isn't displayed anywhere when you arrive, but thankfully GPS brought us right to it.

It felt like an average stay for a hotel that's supposed to be upscale, and I didn't get what I expected. There was no sign on the building, not enough ports for electronic devices like cell phones, and the curtains blocked the A/C airflow while temperatures outside were in the triple digits. Extending the stay was also a problem, and I had to be moved to different rooms.
