Motel 6 Amarillo, TX - Airport

Last year I was really unhappy with my stay at the Red roof inn in amarillo, so this year I tried motel 6. I've stayed at plenty of them before, and this one is reasonably close to what I expect: a room with clean sheets, low prices, and not much else. I can recommend it for the low cost and pet friendly policy, and the front desk staff are personable. The internet wasn't very good. This isn't a good son to her plan, so go with at&t. I occasionally got ultra wide. T-Mobile was good as usual, and even Verizon was totally usable, all thanks to US Mobile :-)

The room was clean and comfortable, though the outside of the property looked pretty grimy. It seems like they're removing the pool. If you need a dark room to sleep, this isn't a good choice: with the lights off and shades closed, it was still bright enough to almost read a book.

The front desk acknowledged a roach issue, saying there had been no reports on the second floor, and moved me to another room. I found a German cockroach on my belongings in room #115 after unpacking and getting ready for bed, exhausted after an eight-hour drive during a 17-hour trip. That room was only two stars for cleanliness, though I know it's a Motel 6. Roaches hitchhike like bed bugs, so that was a hard no for me. Room #215 was cleaner, about 3.5 stars, with a comfortable bed and a mini fridge with a separate freezer. The property felt safe, and check-in was quick and very friendly. I paid $75 for one Tuesday night, which felt overpriced for the conditions. I won't stay at this location again. For context, if they'd put me in #215 from the start, I'd have rated it four stars and never known about the roach.

I always stay here when I'm in town, though this room wasn't great. The AC and heat didn't work, and the unit was being held together with tape. The fan that circulated air ran briefly and then shut off. The girl who checked us in was very pleasant, but the man who came from the back seemed uninterested in helping us get our next stay. He rushed her to get us checked in.
