Spark by Hilton Amarillo Western Plaza

The staff were nice and the place was clean, but it was hard to sleep in the third-floor room. Spotlights pointed straight inside and were insanely bright, even with the curtains arranged as strategically as possible. The second image was taken at 2:55am, and the only light in it is from the spotlight. They could point the lights down a bit so they’re not shining directly into a paid room.

Valerie was great, working all by herself during a really busy week and day. When we checked in digitally, our room still had the beds stripped and tissues out, so it wasn’t clean, but the front desk got us another room quickly. We appreciated the fast switch. The rooms are large, with extra seating and pullout tables, which we enjoyed. The pool and hot tub were closed for maintenance, so we didn’t get to use them. Breakfast was alright, not the best of the Hiltons, but better than nothing. For the price, it was pretty good, though the hotel could improve.

The location was great, and the hot tub was amazing. The pool was another story: there were few towels, or they were all dirty when we went around 11a-130p, so bring your own. Breakfast was below what I’ve had at most Hilton brands. No waffles or pancakes, and the same liquid eggs and sausage links every morning for 4 mornings. Housekeeping didn’t come for 3 days even though I asked. The entry light flickers but won’t fully turn off, leaving the room lit at night. I asked about it but couldn’t get a manager for 3 days. Customer service and help were lacking throughout those 3 days, especially from Kevin in the evening. Disappointed for Hilton, and I won’t return to this one.

The workers were extremely nice and would do whatever you needed. The beds felt like laying on clouds, with very soft sheets, and the room had no bad smells like at some other hotels we’ve stayed at. Clean, updated rooms. We used to stay here when it was a Comfort inn and suites, same owner, just a different hotel brand now. Good job making it a great stay :)
