We were visiting friends who were staying here, and this was a terrible first impression of Amelia Island. They were paying guests, but I’d never stay here myself after how rudely we were treated. We’d parked at the public beach access, walked along the beach to meet them, and spent the day together. When a storm came up quickly, we helped carry their canopy, tents, and chairs to the parking garage. We were only going to walk through it to the road and then back to our car. My daughter has a service dog, but we weren’t given a chance to explain that before an owner and board member who monitors the garage confronted us. He said only owners could have dogs there. I explained we were just passing through, and he replied, “Thanks for trespassing.” We weren’t going to their condo, only through the garage, but he sent us back out into the storm to walk down to the public beach access. We’ve traveled all over the US and have never been treated so rudely. If you stay here, expect to be stopped and questioned in the garage. Don’t have visitors over, even people just passing through the garage are treated as trespassers.
