We've made the Babcock House our regular getaway. The proprietors are warm and accommodating, the rooms are comfortable and full of character, and the food is prepared by a skilled chef. Every course of our four-course dinner was cooked perfectly.

We stopped at the Babcock House for one night on a road trip. The house is beautiful, well cared for, and decorated in a traditional, cozy style, and the rooms are comfortable. It's right by the Appomatox court house site and museums, handy for a little history. The surrounding countryside is lovely too, with what looks like lots of walking routes. Breakfast was good, though quite heavy. I was disappointed that the yogurt was already sweetened, and the juices weren't fresh and were sweetened as well.

We spent two restful nights at this historic bed and breakfast. Since we knew we'd arrive late the first evening, we asked to have a Southern Cheese board in our room. It had cheese, fruit, bread, and apple butter, just right for a snack. The following night's dinner was a delicious, thoughtfully planned multi-course meal. Both breakfasts were a treat, especially the yogurt and fruit with molasses drizzled over it. Our room was just right, the bed was comfortable, and the shower pressure was good. The window shutters worked well for privacy and keeping light out. Talia was friendly and helpful, and her husband, the chef, is a culinary artist. We'll definitely come back ❤️

We spent one night here for our anniversary, and it was lovely. The house is beautiful and nicely appointed. We especially enjoyed sitting on the large screened porch with a bottle of wine and no bugs to bother us. Breakfast was delicious and made to suit our plant-based needs. This is a beautiful B&B, and I highly recommend it.

Babcock House is a restored home from around 1884, and its period antiques give the place plenty of historic character and an offbeat charm. The hosts, Talia and Charles, were warm, responsive, and attentive. Breakfast gets high marks too, with fresh fruit, good coffee, and homemade touches. It's a peaceful alternative to a big city hotel, and a comfortable base for visiting Appomattox Court House National Historical Park and the area's history. It's a small B&B with only a handful of rooms and suites, so book ahead if you need particular dates. Appomattox is quaint and historic, but not a busy resort town, with limited activities and little nightlife. We found a fun bar and grill called Marshals, though people looking for urban options or lots of nearby amenities may find it too quiet. There's also a nearby train whistle at times, which could bother very light sleepers. Dinner at the house is available to guests by request, so check ahead if eating out is a big part of your plans. Since this is a historic home rather than a large hotel, some modern amenities may be modest. The house has older windows and shutters, and possibly some creaks or quirks. Heating and air conditioning aren't room-specific, and water pressure is typical of a house when many guests are showering at once. I'd recommend it to couples or solo travelers who want a quiet, characterful getaway, appreciate antiques and history over chain-hotel scale, and are comfortable with a relaxed pace. If you want an energetic hotel, nightlife on site, a pool or spa, lots of amenities, or high-luxury resort features, this may feel modest. People who prefer newer buildings may be happier in a modern hotel. Talia and Charles seem focused on making guests' stays amazing, and the Babcock House delivers on charm, warmth, and hospitality. If that kind of restful, historic stay suits your travel style, you'll likely enjoy it.
