Holiday Inn National Airport/Crystal City by IHG

The cleaning staff made my stay feel comfortable and welcoming. Whenever I came back to the room, it was spotless, neatly arranged, and smelled fresh. It was clear they cleaned with care. They were consistently courteous and professional, and the fresh linens and tidy amenities didn't go unnoticed. I'd happily return and recommend the hotel because of their work. Outstanding service from the team.

The rooms were clean and the location was good, with several places to eat a short walk away. The furniture looked its age and the rooms were a little dated, but service was very good. They didn't clean during my two-day stay. The shuttle was clean and ran promptly on the hour and half hour. Breakfast coupons offered good choices at one of the two hotel restaurants.

The bed was wonderful and really comfortable, and the staff noticed I checked in on my birthday, January 8th, and greeted me for it. I appreciated that. I had trouble getting the shower handle to work consistently, and didn't like how complicated it was. The thermostat-controlled AC wasn't any better. The Wi-Fi was terrible and slow. I was working on videos during my stay, and uploading one 3¼ hour video took over 12 hours. I had to leave my laptop running all night. A prominent hotel should have faster Wi-Fi. That was the only amenity I cared about since there were no pools, and the amenities overall were poor. Getting around was a problem, though that's not really the hotel's fault. Not everyone drives, and getting to Ronald Reagan National Airport can be a hassle if you have to rely on Uber or a friend. Crystal City Metro Station is a good walk away. I can manage the walk, but many people with mobility issues can't. The only buses I saw were the airport shuttle, unless you go to the transit center. I'm Joshua, The Transit Prodigy, and make YouTube content. I look for the best when booking, and hope for the best even if it falls short. This hotel wasn't bad, but was underwhelming. Content creators should expect slow upload and download speeds. I'd like to see a pool, and sadly, the view of the airport is blocked by office and hotel buildings. That's why I gave it a 3, though my install experience here was good. Recommendable, but with caution.

The business center was the only real highlight. The rest of the hotel was disappointing and didn't feel like a three-star stay. It was much older than the online photos suggested and lacked the updates other older properties have made for travelers. There was just one USB plug and very few outlets in the room. The bathroom was small, had no storage, and lacked modern conveniences I have found at similarly priced hotels. Its old shower head was so clogged with lime that only a few streams worked. There was no continental breakfast, and the breakfast restaurant had very few choices. There wasn't real room service either. Delivery items were left out in the open at the front desk, where anyone could take them. The lobby and other common areas were clean, but the carpet, walls, and hallways looked dingy. The small downstairs store had snacks but no fresh fruit or healthy options, and didn't even carry basics like mouthwash. Parking was in an aging deck, hard to get into, and very expensive. We paid almost $80 to park for three days. If we'd known the cost and that the accommodations wouldn't meet the online three-star description, we would have stayed somewhere else. We wouldn't recommend this hotel or stay here again, even though we travel to the DC area often. It badly needs renovations.
