Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge

I usually book here when I'm in town. The price is good, the rooms are generally pretty clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s handy for the Blue metro line and you can walk to Georgetown. The hotel isn’t new, but it’s well maintained. Parking costs money, though when I’ve driven here the rate has been reasonable for the location. There’s a great breakfast buffet for the price in the top-floor restaurant, with fantastic views.

The bed was just how I like it, firm with a bit of softness, and the pillows were fluffy. I slept fantastically. The room had plenty of space and was clean, with fresh sheets. The bathroom was adequate, though I wasn’t keen on the soaps. Lobby staff were accommodating and helped me find dinner spots nearby. The security guards were nice too when I asked about the vending machines, which are on the 3rd floor with chips and sweets. Parking is free. The lot gets busy on weekday mornings but is mostly empty at night. There’s a pool and fitness center for guests. The carpets look like an 80s or early 90s throwback, a bit ugly but kind of cozy.

Getting around from here is easy. The Metro, Key bridge to Georgetown, riverfront bike paths, and plenty of restaurants are all nearby. The top-floor restaurant has lovely views, and its breakfast was a little better than the usual hotel buffet. The rooms could use a makeover, but they were clean, and the staff were great. I’d stay here again.

The front desk was friendly and efficient. When housekeeping broke something in our room, the desk reimbursed us quickly, and they got a mini fridge up to us almost right away when we asked. It’s also very close to the metro, parking in the hotel garage is free, the restaurant has a nice view, and you can run over Key bridge to Georgetown. The wait for elevators was incredibly long. Breakfast got tiresome because it was exactly the same every day. Often the muffins were gone by the time we arrived, there were no bagels, and it was the same melon and pineapple. Could we get bananas? There were only two kinds of rather boring adult cereal. By the end we dreaded breakfast. The servers were a bit too eager to make themselves noticed and actually asked us to leave a tip. The hotel is showing its age and the rooms need lots of small repairs. The gym is tiny, and my preschoolers were disappointed that the pool had no shallow area where they could stand.
