Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Hotel

The staff and valets were genuinely kind, and the made-to-order eggs at breakfast were a treat. Dinner worked fine as a casual meal after a long day. The rooms are older, but they were spacious, clean, comfortable, and inviting. The beds were mostly comfortable, though a pillow-top pad would help. I usually try to avoid Charleston, WV, but sometimes I have to stay there. After this visit to Embassy Suites, I’ll be happy to come back whenever they have a room.

After a long day on the road, Gage, the valet Manager, really came through for us. Our car had a large luggage carrier on top, so we couldn’t use the garage. Before arriving, we’d spent 25 minutes on the phone with a staff member who had no suggestions. Gage explained the metered street parking when we pulled in. There was only one space left, and the car ahead had taken up too much room, so my husband couldn’t fit our car into it. We thought we’d have to pay $21 for valet parking, but Gage offered to park it and maneuvered into the very tight space beautifully. We were grateful for that extra help. The whole staff was considerate and respectful, and Paige acted quickly when kids celebrating a birthday ran up and down the hall outside our room. We’ve stayed at Embassy Suites before and had another good visit, with spacious rooms and a fantastic breakfast selection. One thing, coffee should be available all day, not only during breakfast.

Jerry made our road-trip stop in Charleston, WV, feel like a much better experience than we expected from the reviews. He greeted us as we arrived, helped with our luggage and parking, called a restaurant so we could get in on a busy Valentines Day, and drove us as well. The rooms were clean and had the classic Embassy layout we like, though they could use a refresh. Breakfast was great, including the omelet station, and the manager’s reception was good too. We met some of the friendliest people we’ve encountered in Charleston. Thanks to Jerry and the Embassy team.

A snowstorm turned our one-night visit with friends into an extra night downtown, and Elaine at the front desk made it feel special. She was so friendly, helpful, and kind, and even lent me her own umbrella for the snow. We felt like we’d made a friend, which is unusual and lovely at a hotel this big. We’ll stay at Embassy Suites again next time we’re in town. Thanks, Elaine.
