Howard Johnson by Wyndham Arlington Ballpark / Six Flags

My laptop disappeared from our room during a family stay a couple of years ago, and I’m completely sure it had been there. I was doing homework on it the night before, left it on the desk, and didn’t take it out of the room. We reported the theft to the front desk, but the clerk was defensive, rude, and dismissive. They wouldn’t help search the property or offer any real support, and made no effort to investigate or take it seriously. We filed a police report, but the hotel never followed up or accepted any accountability. It was incredibly frustrating dealing with a business that showed so little hospitality during such a serious situation. Avoid this place at all costs.

Jocelyn was so welcoming, and my overnight stop on the way home from Colorado was quick and great. Even though my room faced the highway, it was quiet. I could see my car from the patio, which was a fun change since I’m not used to having a hotel patio. I also had a view of 6-Flags over Texas, a place I hadn’t been so close to in more than 12 years. The room was mostly fine and clean, but it took many tries to unlock the door. I also got charged for late checkout. I should have checked first, though I’ve never stayed at a hotel that charged for staying until 12:00. Getting around the building in a wheelchair was the bigger problem. Neither entrance was easy to use. The back one had a narrow walkway and two big drop-offs, and getting through meant opening both doors. The elevator was too small for people with mobility issues.

The outside and the reviews had me a little concerned, but I decided to trust what people had written and was pleasantly surprised. The front desk was welcoming, the lobby smelled great and was clean, and our room was very clean too. We slept really well. We were only there one night near Arlington before heading out, and didn’t stay for breakfast, so I can’t comment on it.
