Red Roof Inn Arlington - Entertainment District

The rooms are great, but the tubs are always dingy and chipped. The front desk is usually nice, though my last stay was weird. Two months earlier I was in the back building and had a great experience with a young cleaner who understood to leave guests alone if they were undressed or in the room. This time in the front building, the older couple cleaning wouldn't leave us be. I had no pants on, and they still came in to make the bed and mop. I carry my own broom, dust pan, mop, mop bucket, and shower towels. I said we didn't need towels, but they kept insisting we take them. Then they ran a semi-dry mop pad across the floor and it did nothing. Later I got a call saying there was only one animal per room. I had a puppy and kitten on my earlier stay, and had called to ask about the pet policy before booking. I told the front desk that, and the cleaner from before knew about both pets. I also always have to call about my deposit. It's been three weeks. I've never had a deposit kept, and I stay at a hotel every two weeks, so it feels like they're trying to keep it. The TV resets to the first channel every morning at checkout time, even if you're watching something and have paid to stay multiple days.

I chose this place for the price and because it allows pets, but walking them means using the parking lot. There's no grass or dog stations, so piles of poop are all over. My room felt creepy, with a ceiling door and big gaps around it. A worker told me it was roof access and that every fourth room has one. The tub had a film and black mold spots, and the showerhead was caked with limescale and badly needed cleaning. There was no privacy, either. I could hear full conversations from neighbors, and I'm sure they heard mine. The local TV channels worked, but the advertised free on-demand channels had no sound. I thought I was doing something wrong or that my TV was broken, but maintenance said all the TVs were like that. At checkout, the front desk said they didn't subscribe to those channels. I asked why they advertised free on-demand TV, but he had no answer. I asked for a discount because the TV had been misrepresented and was completely out on the last day, and I don't know why it stopped working. He said he'd speak with the manager about a TV discount and said the deposit and any discount would go back to my card in 5 to 7 days. So far nothing has been refunded or discounted. Shady and deceptive. Not recommended. Room 284.

It feels like a five-star hotel room to me, with a microwave and a medium-sized fridge. The bathroom is waaaay better than motel 6. I'd recommend staying here, though if you smoke or vape you have to go outside, which sucks when it's cold. Hopefully they change the smoking rule, or at least allow vaping.

Everything from the floor up is new in the renovated rooms, and they have a five-star feel. The atmosphere is amazing, and the rooms are cleaned really well. The manager does an excellent job.
