Best Western Asheville Blue Ridge Parkway

We originally had a frustrating stay, but Hazel, the manager, responded so promptly, professionally, and kindly that I’ve changed this to 5 stars. She refunded the late checkout fee and even sent an Amazon gift card to apologize. It was a breath of fresh air dealing with someone who takes guest happiness and service seriously. We’d absolutely give them another chance. Best Western is lucky to have a general manager who takes pride in her work and trains her team to provide the same level of customer service. We picked the hotel for its proximity to an event venue and the jacuzzi tub, which we’d hoped to enjoy for our anniversary. Most of the room features weren’t working, including the hair dryer, and the tub had no hot water. We tried again after our event and the next morning, since we’d paid extra for late checkout. The front desk sent maintenance, who said someone had turned off the hot water heater/boiler and turned it back on, asking us to wait 10 minutes. We finally got hot water, but the tub was only about a third full when it went cold again. We ended up taking a lukewarm bath and were frustrated and disappointed. The jacuzzi tub upgrade was $40+ and late checkout was $25. For that cost, we could have had two nights in a different, equally nice room with amenities that worked properly.

AMAZING STAY! The room was immaculate, the front desk super welcoming, and the hot breakfast was great. The breakfast attendant was lovely and housekeeping was very sweet. This is my new favorite stay in Asheville, and the value was amazing. My only small complaint is that people smoked outside the rooms and dropped cigarette butts by the doors. The smell came into our room.

It was a clean hotel in a decent location, about 10 minutes from Blue Ridge Park. There’s a cute little gazebo out back, and it’s right next door to a big hotel with direct access to it. I stayed two different nights in two different rooms, and one was definitely nicer, so keep that in mind if you’re unhappy with your room. Breakfast was disappointing, with limited choices, and it wasn’t managed very well. Staff were quiet and didn’t take much initiative, though they would help when asked.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, with nice amenities, and I enjoyed the stay enough that I’d be happy to return. The complimentary breakfast was very good, especially the biscuits, waffles, sausages, and berries. They even had fresh milk for coffee. The one letdown was the scrambled eggs, which seemed like they might have been made from powdered eggs. Late checkout at 2pm costs an extra $25. We paid for it, but the front desk called to say it was time to leave. Once we explained, they realized the mistake and apologized, no big deal. Then, 30 minutes later, a maid knocked to ask why we were still there. Next time I’d remind the front desk about late checkout and put a sign on the door for the maid in English and Spanish.
