Cottage Place on Squam Lake

Cottage Place has become our second home. We’ve spent nearly every summer here for close to a decade, and I’m still thankful I found it by searching for dog-friendly lake views. Coming back each year feels like a deep breath. The cottages are comfortable and charming, with a familiar, welcoming feel, and stepping outside to see Squam Lake is wonderful. We’ve made friends over the years, and our “Cottage Place family” keeps growing. We’ve enjoyed the sandy beach, the privacy created by the layout, and evenings sharing stories around the large fire pit on the front lawn. The lake and the peaceful setting are what bring us back. Last year, my husband and I even eloped here. We wanted to celebrate our wedding day in a place that means so much to us. I’m excited that Cottage Place plans to offer wedding planning and packages starting in 2026. It’s where I feel relaxed and most like myself, and where I’m reminded that memories matter more than things. The views and warm hospitality make it easy to recommend. I can’t wait to welcome more people into the family.

We keep talking about our next trip to Cottage Place. Carrie and Don were genuinely accommodating, and the small, comfortable property is just right for a long weekend to unwind. We brought our toddler and his grandparents this time, booking the weekend before busy season. My son had a great time on the playground. We’d visited twice before in winter and found it cozy and relaxing then, too. This trip we kayaked on the lake and made s’mores at the main fire pit. Activities were included and easy to get to. We ordered pizza the first night, then cooked on the grills for the next two. Thanks, Carrie and Don!

We had a great time during our four nights in late summer. It’s right on the lake and near plenty of scenic hiking, and we used the fire pit a lot. The studio cabin was simple, with what you need but nothing fancy. Service was prompt and professional. I’d come back in the fall.

We had a blast even though the weather wasn’t great. The kids and I kayaked, played on the playground, and made s’mores by the fire. Our cabin was great, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. First visit, but this might turn into our regular spot.
