Best Western Athens

The desk clerk was very helpful, but management’s planning left a lot to be desired. We booked three nights over Thanksgiving, and there wasn’t even coffee available on Thanksgiving morning. Holiday staffing should have been covered. My wife uses a wheelchair, and there was no ramp connecting the parking lot to the walkway. We also had just two bath towels for three nights and only one roll of toilet paper. We eventually tracked down housekeeping to get more. There weren’t any shower shelves for soap, either. I spent my career in management, so I was surprised by how poorly these basics had been planned. We won’t return. I expected more from Best Western.

Brock at the front desk really made the stay. He’s super chill, easy to talk to, and went out of his way to make sure things were good. The room itself was great too. The only small issue was a chemical smell in the bathroom. I figured it might mean the room had just been cleaned. Running the shower on the hottest setting cleared it up once the steam and fan had a chance to work.

The place was badly outdated, and the room itself was disgusting. The towels were stained and dirty, and the sheets had cigarette holes and stains. They looked old, washed out, and cheap. The parking lot was in rough shape, and the cleaning crew didn’t seem to do much. The price felt like a complete ripoff, and the front desk wouldn’t honor points. Broc was a great person, but he should be working somewhere much better. Jared at the desk was rude and awful at customer service. I’m disgusted that I had to stay here because my child had an event nearby. This was the worst Best Western I’ve been to in a long time, and the brand has really gone downhill. The locations in Texas and NY are just as bad. This place should be shut down. Don’t stay here, or at any Best Western.

It’s handy being able to walk to Sanford Stadium and the downtown shops and restaurants. We’ve stayed in “the tower” twice. The staff are very friendly, and the rooms are okay, though they could use an update. It’s a hotel in a college town.
