Sleep Inn & Suites Athens South

The rooms and fixtures were a bit worn, but that didn’t bother us for a one-night visit. It’s a budget hotel that did the job as a lower-priced place to stay.

Breakfast, a pool, and a gym were all available, and there’s an outdoor deck with grills. They also had trail information, and you can walk right out of the property to connect with Candlewood Suites. It’s just off the main highway, close to popular restaurants, shops, and banks. The place is tucked behind Sonic, almost hidden away. I slept peacefully in a comfortable bed, the room was decent, and customer service was very good. It felt like a reasonably priced hidden gem.

We left a night early after finding period stains on the sheets. I only managed to photograph one stain because we were rushing to book another place on our second night. There were water bugs in the hotel, and the shower wasn’t clean when we arrived. I tried to take the sheets off to put the bedding on the floor, but the fitted sheet wouldn’t come off the mattress. Seeing the stains left behind, I felt the staff definitely weren’t washing sheets between guests. It was a great option for our dog, since most hotels aren’t pet friendly, but we won’t return.

The staff were helpful, the rooms were squeaky clean, and breakfast was good. The pool was open, and there were a couple of basic exercise machines. A pleasant place to stay.
