Breakfast was great, and the staff were good overall. The location is excellent and very walkable, with some other nice hotels nearby. Still, I wouldn't stay here again. In the end it was fine, but it felt like a cheap motel and badly needs a remodel. The rooms weren't cleaned well. Mine hadn't been vacuumed, there was a dirty washcloth, and one trash can hadn't been emptied. The curtains were water-stained from the heater and wouldn't close completely, so I used a pants hanger to clip them shut. Since the rooms open outdoors, someone could see whether I was there. Access to the hotel itself is restricted, which helped it feel safe. The Carnegie library monument nearby became a drinking and weed gathering place around 4 p.m., and people asked for money. I'd take another walking route. Sometimes homeless people sat outside along the side of the hotel, but didn't bother anyone. The TV had only seven basic cable channels, and I wasn't given Wi-Fi information, if Wi-Fi was available. I stayed four nights in Feb 2026. The elevators worked, but in the lobby their doors kept opening and closing due to a malfunction.
The location was really good, and for the price it was a decent deal. The garage was small, but felt much safer than an open lot or garage. Rooms were small but suitable, and we didn't see any bugs during our stay, though we were concerned about them. We visited in December 2025, just before renovations were due to start. The staff were great, and breakfast was nice, with a waffle machine, eggs, sausage, and grits. The building was more run down than we expected: one elevator often broke, the carpet smelled odd, and a hole in the door let in wind. There were some strange mismatches, like a newly tiled shower with a rusty, non-working air vent, and a nicely made bed with no blanket. Staff brought one when we asked.
They're renovating, but everything was nice and clean. It's a really neat hotel, just a few blocks from the hospital. The young man at the front desk was awesome, so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
This is still the cheapest option I know of in proper Atlanta, and honestly it's doable for the price. You get what you pay for, though, and the roaches are making me reconsider. I usually find the lowest rates on third-party sites, and I wouldn't book direct unless I thought I might need to cancel. My first problem was the bugs. During my last two visits, Apr 2025 and Feb 2026, we found a live cockroach in the room. In April it poked its head out of the hole in the wall for the shower head. I don't know where the one in the second room came from. I had no noticeable issues in earlier rooms. Renovations started in December 2025, if I read the signs right. They seem aware of it, since a maintenance guy was working on a door sweep when we raised the issue, presumably to help. But the roaches are in the walls, man. Too little, too late. At least I've never seen bedbug signs, and I always check. The daytime location is wonderful, right in the heart of Atlanta, with dining and shopping within walking distance, and the area feels safe then. Night is a different story. Don't step outside if you don't want a shirtless man yelling at you from down the block before you leave the property's sidewalk, or to hear a woman publicly struggling with her mental health in the pouring rain. I'm speaking from actual experience, not joking. Inside the property feels safe at all times. Reception does a great job keeping people who don't belong out, since the receptionist has to let you into the lobby or parking deck. I can't say enough kind words about reception. The parking deck is tiny, and many spaces are absurdly narrow because of the support beams. It can fill up. Get there early if you can, unless you're willing to squish your ballsack getting out of the car. The nearest alternatives are independent paid lots across the street, exposed to the people I mentioned. From the front-facing unit I'm in, I can't immediately see cameras. I'm not going outside at 4:18 A.M. to check, especially when I can hear shouting from inside. The property isn't why I'm awake. The TVs have just a few local channels and no way to plug in HDMI, which is wild for a flatscreen. Don't bother bringing a cable. There are no microwaves in the unit. Maybe there's one downstairs in the continental breakfast area, but I can't be bothered to check. The units do have a small safe, mini fridge, coffee supplies, iron, and ironing board. We had to ask for the board on our latest stay because it was AWOL.
My stay was fine overall. The price was good, and the room was fairly clean and quiet, though breakfast had run out by the time we arrived, about 30 minutes after opening. I'm concerned about a charge attempt on a card I used here. I use a service called privacy to create a unique card for each stay, and I've sometimes used the same card at the same hotel. I stayed here around May 24th, 2024. That was a one-time card and it was closed shortly afterward. Then on Nov 20th, 2025, I saw a charge attempt on it. Since it was closed, it didn't go through and I lost no money. I used that card only once, only here, so I don't think I could have given it to anyone else. Be cautious about booking here. I called the hotel that day to report it, and someone took my information and said they'd call back. As of 12/2/2025, no one had returned my call. I'd been calling all morning, with no answer. I wanted to give the hotel a chance to discuss the compromised card before posting, but couldn't reach anyone, so I'm leaving the review.
