Homewood Suites by Hilton Augusta

The rooms are spacious, and it's a nice hotel. You can see they're remodeling, which seems like a good sign. For me, the location isn't ideal because I'm not a fan of busy traffic roads. Restaurants are within walking distance, but that also makes the traffic worse.

The staff were courteous, and our room was quiet, but there were several problems. Large crates took up about a quarter of the parking spots, and when we came back from dinner the lot was completely full. We had to park next door and walk along the curb by a busy road, which felt unsafe and unacceptable. Breakfast choices were limited, the eggs tasted artificial, and the hash browns were so unpleasant they left a bad taste in my mouth. The hallways were dim and the room paint job was sloppy. Shower pressure was great, but the water didn't drain, leaving us standing in ankle deep water, and the room smelled musty.

The shower had the best water pressure I've ever had at a Hilton. The stay itself was frustrating, though. The first room had no power, and the TVs and phones didn't work, so I had to move. In the second room, the toilet kept clogging. I was tired of changing rooms, so I just kept a plunger nearby. I probably wouldn't stay again.

The front desk staff tried to help, but their options seemed limited by inefficient management. The manager ignored my requests and offered no solutions, which left me deeply disappointed with how this property is run. At check-in, both the air conditioning and room phone were broken, and the floor was visibly dirty. The room was technically cleaned each day afterward, but the housekeeping overall was still inadequate.
