Super 8 by Wyndham Augusta/Ft Eisenhower Area

I drove from Alabama to visit my brother, and the cheap price is the only reason I’m still here. I regret choosing this place. At check-in, the clerk had a sour look, and the hallways smell of cigarette and marijuana smoke. The carpets are stained, and my supposedly non-smoking room clearly had been smoked in. There are burns in the bedding. The place is filthy. The microwave wasn’t clean, there was trash and grime behind and under furniture, and the floors and furniture were dirty. The tub might have been wiped, but it wasn’t cleaned. The bathroom sink cabinet doors fell off when opened. I didn’t even look fully under the beds; seeing behind them was enough. There’s no heat, the AC/heat unit is broken with its front falling off, and an outlet had previously burned. The clothes hangers were rusty. Never again.

Everything was dirty or broken. There were roaches everywhere, the TV had no remote, and the shower didn’t work. People were wandering outside all night and kept me awake, then someone banged on my door and woke me up. Seriously, just don’t.

Check-in was quick and painless. The location was okay, tucked away from some of the riffraff you see in other parts of Augusta. The room hadn’t been properly cleaned, and I found cigar tobacco piled behind a nightstand. The hallways and rooms are outdated, with a mild musty smell mixed with cigarette smoke.

I stayed here with my parents about 9 years ago when I came to Augusta University for an interview with its Clinical Laboratory Science program. The room was alright, nothing special, and breakfast was okay too. For what we paid, it was a good deal, especially since the hotel was a reasonable distance from the medical district where my interview was. A decent budget option for a visit to Augusta.
