Hampton Inn Austin/Airport Area South

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were comfortable. Everything was very clean, and the convenient location made my trip easy. I had a great stay and would definitely return.

I liked how quiet the area was, and downtown Austin was just a quick 10-minute drive away. The location is great, though it's not very walkable, which didn't bother me. The Hilton felt a little dated compared with others I've stayed at. My room needs work: there was a lot of mold along the ceiling and bathroom caulking, plus a strange smell when I walked in. There's no bathroom fan, so I can see how moisture would get trapped. I'd probably choose another hotel in the area next time.

The bed creaked loudly with every little movement, which added to an already uncomfortable stay. My first room smelled very strange and unpleasant. The front desk staff were polite and quickly moved me when I mentioned it, and I appreciated that. But the second room had an odor too, and turning on the air conditioner's heat brought an overpowering, disgusting smell right at me. I couldn't turn the unit off, which made the situation even more frustrating. The staff were courteous, but the room conditions were unacceptable.

The staff were very nice, and I understand they have to work within their means. The room badly needs an upgrade: there was just one spot for USB ports, and the TV only had old-school cable. Getting in and out of the location was awkward. Still, it was a decent hotel.
